Undersky takes our name from the imum coeli, Latin for ‘bottom of the sky,’ a subterraneous point in everyone’s birth chart opposite from midheaven, where the sun attains its highest place on the day of one’s birth. In astrological tradition, this point refers to the deepest part of ourselves, the parts we are least conscious of. The Undersky contains our shadows, most distant from that which is visible, and the inheritances we have received from the beginnings of this life and perhaps even our past lives.

The Undersky method borrows from two traditions in astrology— archetypal and evolutionary. Archetypal astrology suggests that all of us can tap into any of the energies of the zodiac, and that these energies find correspondence across the universe on a grand scale. Evolutionary astrology connects these symbolic astrological relationships to the soul’s growth and evolution, its karma and reincarnation over lifetime to lifetime. Taken together, the Undersky method shows that you can work with astrological forces, not simply be controlled by them. Undersky Astrology is different from a typical horoscope or traditional astrology reading. It may seem less interested in your sun sign in favor of a more holistic understanding of the you as a whole person represented by your chart. It may be less focused on your personality and more drawn to the reasons for your incarnation in this lifetime.

Bradley Lane, Ph.D., developed the Undersky method after years of study in astrological traditions alongside academic study in communication and culture. In addition to being an astrologer, Bradley is a writer, teacher, and spiritual coach who incorporates a variety of wisdom traditions into his practice with clients— including tarot, reiki, and integrated forms of energy, breath, and body work.
